Asus Transformer priced at Rs 49,990

Asus will launch its quad core processor bearing tablet, which can be transformed in to a laptop thanks to its keyboard dock, in India in next 15 days for Rs 49,990. The Asus Transformer Prime comes with Nvidia 1.3 GHz Tegra 3 'Kal-el' quad-core processor. The tablet is likely to arrive in the market with Android 3.2 Honeycomb but will also be upgradable to Android 4.0 almost immediately.

The tablet comes with the keyboard doc that extends its battery like to 18 hours. Besides, it has an 8 megapixel camera at the back and comes with 10.1 inch capacitive touch screen. The tablet is very slim in profile even with the keyboard dock and has a metallic body. The tablet has been criticized for poor GPS and Wi-Fi signal. Asus has said that though the GPS signal is hindered by the metallic body, the remedy is already being worked out.

While the Transformer Prime will be much more powerful than any of the currently selling tablets in India, its high price can prove to be a bottle neck in the highly price sensitive market. However, this tablet can attract a lot of professional as it offers complete laptop experience with extra long battery life. It is also portable as any of the Android tablets in the tablet form.
